Reaching for the Blessing

I can vividly recall the moment I purchased my first home, a significant milestone in my life that was both exciting and daunting. At the time, my credit score was definitely not in my favor, lingering in a range that made lenders hesitant to extend favorable terms. I had faced various financial challenges in the years leading up to this moment, which had impacted my creditworthiness. Despite my diligent efforts to improve my financial standing, the lingering effects of past decisions weighed heavily on my score, making the prospect of homeownership seem like a distant dream.

Compounding this challenge was the fact that I was nearing the end of my military enlistment.

The idea of moving from a structured military environment to civilian life was daunting. I was keenly aware that unemployment was imminent, adding another layer of anxiety to the home-buying process. The stability provided by my military career was about to change significantly, and the uncertainty of the future weighed heavily on my mind. However, I knew that God was guiding me to embrace a blessing, starting with home ownership. In my situation, I had to reach out for this blessing with faith. During this period, I also had a pending VA disability claim. Not only was I approved for the home, but I also won my disability case. I just needed to reach out for the blessing.

2 Kings 6:6-7 reads:

"6.And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim. 7.Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it"

In this scripture, the axe head detached from the man's axe and sank into the water. The axe was quite valuable and was not his own; it was borrowed. The prophet Elisha asked the man to indicate where the axe head had fallen. Elisha then took a stick and tossed it into the water at that spot, which made the axe head rise to the surface, and Elisha instructed him to retrieve it.

In this story, the man had to extend his hand to retrieve the axe head. Although it seemed like an impossible task, he needed to reach for it himself. The prophet Elisha couldn't do it for him; the man had to take action. In the passage, God's part was complete; the axe head was already floating on the water. Similarly, when I bought my house, the approval was already destined; I just needed to reach out and claim it.

We can ask God, "Give me a miracle in my finances, give me a car, give me a house, etc." If it is God's will, He will say, "My part is already done. I already made the axe float for you." Now it is up to you and your faith level to reach out and grab it.

It's right in front of you! Extend your hand and take it! When your faith aligns with or reaches the level where you can perceive the blessing, you can reach out your hand and seize it. This involves you in the miracle. However, if you don't reach for it, nothing will ever occur.
